Father Alexis' Bio


Fr. Alexis Baldwin grew up in Mississippi, spending his formative years in Greenville.  His family moved to Laurel, Mississippi during his later childhood and they lived there during his teen years.  His family then moved to Mesa, Arizona his senior year of high school where he met his future wife, Matushka Veronika.

Fr. Alexis graduated from the Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2007 with a Bachelors of Arts in Theology.  He and Matushka were married in the summer of 2008 and converted to Orthodoxy shortly after.  In May 2013, he graduated with a Master of Divinity from Saint Tikhon's Orthodox Theological Seminary in South Canaan, Pennsylvania under the spiritual guidance of Archpriest Alexander Atty.  Fr. Alexis was ordained priest in July 2013.  He served for one year under the guidance of Archpriest Anthony Karbo of Holy Theophany Orthodox Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  In July 2014, he transferred to the Diocese of the South where he was assigned as priest-in-charge of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Mission in North Augusta, South Carolina beginning October 1, 2014 under the guidance of Archpriest Thomas Moore and Archpriest Marcus Burch.  Fr. Alexis served there until January 6, 2020, when he was assigned as a Mission priest at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Clinton, Mississippi beginning January 15, 2020.  

Currently Fr. Alexis serves Missions across the state of Mississippi, including Holy Cross Orthodox Mission in Petal (Hattiesburg metro area), Saint Catherine Orthodox Church in Columbus, and Christ the Saviour Orthodox Christian Church in McComb.  Fr. Alexis and Matushka Veronika have five children, all boys: Aidan, Isaak, Justin, Seraphim, and Benjamin.
